Built in 1906, this historic building has stood at the center of McCammon for more than a century. Originally home to the McCammon State Bank and Mercantile, along with a post office and boarding house, the original vault remains in our lobby today, a lasting reminder of its earliest days.
Over the years, these walls have served many purposes. A hospital—old gurneys found in the basement—and later apartments for local teachers, where photographs of their students were discovered tucked inside the rooms. Most recently, it was known as “The Big Store,” where Aaron remembers riding into town to buy penny candy as a boy. And now it stands The Luxury Harkness Hotel.

We had a wonderful stay in the beautiful Harkness Hotel. The rooms are gorgeous and every detail is well chosen. The bed is so comfortable! We also both enjoyed an amazing massage at the Harkness Spa! Very close to Lava Hot Springs and easy to enjoy the restaurants in town. Parking was easy and safe right outside of the room (we stayed in the Ivory room). Friendly and accommodating staff! We would love to return!

Perfect stay all around. My husband and I had stayed here after a long few days of traveling and we couldn’t have had a better experience. Firstly, the very kind lady at the front desk waited later for our arrival after we showed up later than expected due to some unexpected stops. She explained the hotel policy and other arrangements very clear to us. Our room was clean, beautiful, and comfortable. We had a great nights rest and had a great check out experience. This hotel made our road trip experience all the better. I would recommend this to everyone!!

We stayed for one evening in July and the stay was amazing. It’s very cozy and very cute that they have themed suites for each room. Its history is great, like who wouldn’t want to stay in an old building that used to be a bank. I mean for $200 dollars per night it’s a pretty good deal. You get a great view of the mountains and a very creepy abandoned gas station 2 minutes away. Even though they do not have breakfast there, they still have coffee, tea, and hot chocolate, from their high quality coffee machines. Then at mid day you can go to 1 of the three hotsprings about 12 minutes away. It’s also near many restaurants that are fairly priced. The designs of the rooms are perfect and really boost the experience of your stay. The staff are great and helpful. Also even though there is a train that is next to the hotel, you can barely hear it and it doesn’t keep you up at night.

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary and the Indigo room was BEAUTIFUL. The front desk was kind enough to provide chocolates and some sparkling cider. Huge tub and double head shower. Free hot drinks downstairs are also a bonus. For dining and activities, Lava Hot Springs is just 10 minutes up the road.

We stayed in the Ruby Suite on our family vacation and it was lovely! It was a great location to visit Lava Hot Springs without staying right in Lava, which was pretty busy and noisy, compared to this location which was quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the full, well stocked kitchen as well. It was beautifully decorated and would be a fun place to stay for a weekend getaway.

I had a great time staying at the Harkness Hotel in Lava Hot Springs! The building itself is beautiful, with a lot of character and history, but it still feels modern and comfortable. The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-decorated, making for a really relaxing stay. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere was peaceful. It was the perfect place to unwind after a day at the hot springs. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in the area!

Yes, we do! Tours are available (based on room occupancy) between noon and 3:00 pm.
Pets are not permitted, with the exception of service animals in designated rooms only. Advance notice prior to arrival is required, and a veterinarian-issued health certificate dated within 10 days of arrival must be presented at check-in. A $50 per day cleaning fee will be charged.
